  • GlasPly Factory Air Study December 1981

Another great find in my archives! I forgot I had this document which outlines several really cool things about the Factory operations in December of 1981. You will find notes on production, process, worker count, shop layout/description and even product literature on the Gel Coat and Foam used. I also found the quantity of materials used in a 4 day shift quite amazing and there is reference to a "Fire" that occurred at the site prior to that building being built and I wonder if there are any archives on that fire in the County archive systems?

Super cool document. I glossed over much of the airflow measurements but there was a lot of interesting info on how the factory was setup, the boats they were building, the areas and types of work, etc. Coincidentally, my folks moved our family to Marysville in 1981.

Is that the same John Lindell (Plant superintendent) of the current Lindell boat line??

Might be family but the current boat builder is Jim Lindell.

            Brian,
Some interesting information in this study, A comment that boats from 17 to 28' were built in the Marysville plant. I always thought the 28's were built in LaConner. The report said 6 boats were under construction during ;the week of November 30 - December 5 and the plant was at 1/3 capacity. I've wondered what the total production of GlasPly was over its existence. Trying to tie the HIN data into annual production was futile.
            Thanks for posting.
The cruise liner QE2 moves only six inches for each gallon of diesel fuel that it burns.
